The $80 million, forty building comprehensive
modernization of a historic public housing complex. The original
1,000 dwelling units are reduced to 680 units with an increased
number of bedrooms and larger living spaces. |

The
new portals, gates and porches employ brightly colored tiles
in patterns that echo traditional African textile designs. These,
along with the glass and tern-coated metal en-trance ways, are
intended to give the building a new identity, as well as be
symbolic of the entire estate’s modernization. |
