HGF completes design for Emerald Alliance V
Herman Gibans Fodor, Inc. recently completed the design of Emerald Alliance V, a new seventy unit Permanent Supportive Housing building at East 75th Street and Euclid Avenue in the Midtown Cleveland neighborhood. Construction is expected to begin in May of 2010 with completion in the summer of 2011.
The four-story, 54,000 square foot building will provide housing for single adults with a history of chronic homelessness, mental health issues and other disabilities. Each of the 400 square foot efficiency suites will include a sleeping area, kitchen, bathroom and living room. Suites will be designed to have individual thermostats to control heating and cooling and will have large double hung windows for direct access to daylight and fresh air. The building will include resident activity and counseling spaces along with administrative office and work areas. The exterior of the building is designed to respond to the Euclid Avenue transportation corridor while at the same time respecting the East 75th Street Historic District to the north.
The project is a joint development between the Emerald Development and Economic Network, Inc., EDEN and the Cleveland Housing Network, with financing from State of Ohio Low-Income Tax Credits, the Ohio Housing Finance Agency, the City of Cleveland, and Cuyahoga County Department of Development, among others. Once opened, EDEN will provide the Property Management Services and Mental Health Services, Inc. will be the lead Social Services provider to the building. Marous Brothers Construction is the Construction Manager and General Contractor for the Project.
